BALL VALVE CLASS 800#
Find ball valves class 800 accordingly ANSI/ASME STD,STD Reference.
ISO STD 17292 and BS 5351 cover the class 800# for all valves.Does ISO 17292, “Metal ball valves for petroleum, petrochemical and allied industries,” reference API 608? I think that JLSeagull had it correctly when he mentioned the only reference to #800 valves listed in B16.34 states that it is not a tabulated ASME B16.34 designation. This is correct because it is an API classification.
Not sure how ASME/ANSI B16.24 - 1991 (R1998) - Cast Copper Alloy Pipe Flanges and Flanged Fittings, has anything to do with steel ball valve for the petrochemical industry.
Also, do not confuse an API #800 valve with an 800 lb WOG valve. The WOG has a working pressure of 800 psi whereas the API #800 is something close to 2000 psi if not 2000 psi. I just remember it being 2000 psi.
Again, I have never heard of an ASME # 800 ball valve. If someone can point me to an ASME standard showing allowable pressure, temp, ect. I would appreciate it. TechStreet lists ANSI/API 608 Metal Ball Valves - Flanged and Butt-Welding Ends, Edition: 3, American Petroleum Institute, 01-Aug-2002. A lot of ANSI specs were changed in name to ASME; however, I looked for the spec in ASME and could not find it. Perhaps Degas was looking for ANSI/API and got the name mixed up.
