ball valve is two-way valve
Ball Valve, one type of quarter turn valve, is quite literally a ball placed in a passageway through which fluid flows. The ball has a hole in it that lets fluid flow through when open and blocks the flow of fluid when closed. The ball is controlled / rotated by a handle that is turned 90 degrees, a quarter turn, to open and close the valve. The basic Ball Valve is a 2-way valve which has two openings on either side and allows straight passage of fluid. However, there is also a 3-way ball valve, which has a third opening that creates a T shape. A ball valve is well suited for situations where the flow of liquids may need to be occasionally turned on or off, such as the main water line in a house. Other typical applications include chemical processing, waste water, landfills, irrigation, food processing and mining.
