Ball Valve Leaking?

2011-03-03

I installed a ball valve a couple weeks ago to work as an iodine fillup on a dairy farm. It took me a long time to get the connections tight enough so it would not leak. Yesterday, however, it was leaking so much that I had to take it down. There was no possible way for me to tighten it any more. I was wondering if I tightened it to much or if they are any simple solutions to this problem.

Did you use thread sealant when installing the valve? Threads will not seal without it and will leak no matter how tight. Is the valve material compatible with iodine?
