High-Performance Double Eccentric Semi-Ball Valve
With the continuous development of industry, the demand for ball valves, especially those used in harsh conditions such as high temperature and high pressure, is increasing. There is a higher requirement for ball valves to possess properties like wear resistance, erosion resistance, high-temperature resistance, and corrosion resistance. While traditional full-bore ball valves undergo surface hardening treatments such as overlay welding or spraying on the ball core and seat, their service life, cost, and performance still fall short of meeting application requirements in demanding conditions like industrial silicon production, coal chemical processing, blast furnace gas, and fuel gas systems. The double-eccentric semi-ball valve is a new product developed by integrating the advantages of different ball valve structures, V-port valves, and orbit ball valves. This valve adopts a double-eccentric sealing structure, resulting in low wear, low torque, reliable sealing performance, and a long service life. The valve seat and semi-sphere undergo special hardening processes, making them particularly suitable for demanding conditions that require high resistance to wear, erosion, corrosion, and high temperatures.Ball Valves

The semi-sphere of the double-eccentric semi-ball valve (Figure 1) features a double-eccentric design, ensuring reliable sealing, Ball Valve Products instant disengagement, low operating torque, and an extended service life. It is applicable in harsh conditions involving the conveying of granular media. Its structural principle is as follows: the centerline of the semi-sphere (Figure 2) is offset by dimension a from the centerline of the valve stem and by dimension b from the centerline of the valve seat. When fully open, the sphere completely disengages from the seat with a certain clearance. The radius of rotation is divided into a long radius and a short radius. The tangent to the trajectory of the long radius forms an angle θ with the sealing surface of the valve seat. During valve opening and closing, the semi-sphere gradually disengages from and gradually presses against the seat surface (as shown in the figure, at a 10° opening, the core is completely disengaged). This action reduces mechanical wear and abrasion between the seat and the semi-sphere during operation, thereby extending the service life.
