Pressure Switches: A Great Find
Pressure switches are a form of switch used to make or break electrical
contact after certain set pressure has been reached on its input,
usually from a pneumatic or hydraulic source. Examples of the use of
pneumatic pressure switches include the switching off gas compressors
and switching on a warning lights of automobile when engine oil
pressures fall below a safe level of ball valve.
Since the invention pressure switches, they have been used as a
means of preventing injuries resulting from overloads or explosions.
Most of the machineries involved in any type of production nowadays
include pressure switches as part of a safety requirement.
Let us take a look at the product specifications of the Pressure Switches available for purchase:
Series PSM/PSP - Pressure Switch
These pressure switches are simple changeover pole / double throw
(SPDT) switches. These can be wired normally open (NO) or normally
closed (NC). The electrical connection is via a DIN plug (PG09) and port
connection is ¼” BSP parallel with an o-ring gasket. It can be used
with pneumatic, hydraulic, lubrication, and general industry.
Series PMM - Pressure Switch
These pressure switches simple on-off units are single pole / single
throw (SPST) switches. They are available as normally open (NO) or
normally closed (NC). It has 0.1 to 10 Bar operating range. It is
typically used in automation, pneumatics, and water systems.
